WSU Rolls Again

Hi everyone, Coach Moore here with a recap of last nights game along with some updates on our walking wounded. Last nights game was another good game defensively for us. We did a great job for most of the game of getting help side and not letting them enter the ball into the post. The only time we struggled was in the middle of the second half when our bigs were worn down some and needed a break. Otherwise as a staff we were very happy with the play of our guys inside as Ryan, Joel and Mike each did an outstanding job of working together in the post and getting our guards through screens up top.
If you were at the game you saw once again that our energy level was very low. Do not really know why this is happening at home but it seems to be a problem and as a staff we are going to have to change this from happening. Hopefully our guys learned from last night that we cannot come out flat and play good basketball. We need to have great energy for every game that we play and we cannot just assume we can show up and win. We are not good enough to do that the effort needs to be there for us to be successful.
Overall I think we did a good job of rebounding once again, especially in the second half. We still need to crash the boards more on the offensive end as we have too many guys that just stand and watch after a shot is taken. We cannot assume the ball is going in, we need to crash hard every time keeping one guy up top. The tempo of the game once we got going was played at a level we like. When we did push the ball we got a great look every time. We will need to do that again on Saturday as Lewis is another team that likes to slow the ball down and work for a great shot. But if we continue to control the tempo of the games I think we should be okay.
A couple of updates on our injured players. Curt Robinson went down on practice on Tuesday with an ankle sprain. It was just an unfortunate play where he was inside battling for a rebound, we had a couple guy go to the floor and one of them rolled up on his leg. The swelling yesterday was pretty bad but today it looked a lot better. Hopefully he will be ready to go on Saturday. As some of you know Bryce Welch injured his knee on our last road trip the night before we played Bemidji. Once again it was kind of a freak thing were Bryce is going after a ball, falls to the ground and ends up with a partial tear in his meniscus. The tear will require surgery which he is going to have done on Monday, then it will be a couple of weeks for rehab. Bryce is hoping to be back for our games against Mary and Northern St.

Well that is all I have for now. Check back for a Lewis preview on Friday. Thanks for reading!
Go Warriors!
